Movie Zone: CA TUE (aka SILENCE WE ARE SHOOTING)
September 07, 2009
by Brian Morton
If you know anything about making movies, then you know it's not all fun and games...it's tons of hard work...just ask our editor-in-chief Greg Lamberson! Well, it's no different, no matter where you go, case in point, the new Belgian movie SILENCE CA TUE (Silence We Are Shooting).
SILENCE CA TUE is the story of a young Belgian filmmaker who's tired of trying to either find an investor for his film or get money from the government to help his production, so he gathers his friends and decides that his best avenue to get a film made is to make a documentary about getting a film made. He begins by gathering his friends and going to a party on the morning before his big meeting with a noted producer. But, when the meeting with the producer goes horribly wrong...ending with the producer's death...things take a decidedly darker turn for our stalwart filmmaker!
SILENCE CA TUE is shot in the current favorite style of filmmakers...first person (or shaky cam as it's called), so there are parts of it that are a bit hard to watch. But, that considered, this isn't a bad movie at all! It's not your typical indie gore-fest, this is a more thoughtful movie, as the situations get darker and darker, we see our struggling filmmaker descend into madness, until eventually, he completely snaps!
I'm giving SILENCE CA TUE 3 1/2 out of 4 cigars, it's a bit hard to watch when the camera hits low light or begins moving quickly, but that doesn't take away from the story, this is a wildly original idea and it's well worth your time! You can find out more about Silence SILENCE CA TUE by heading over to the Brink DVD Silence Ca Tue page.
