Breaking News: Jeff Strand IS the Master of the HWA
Jeff Strand and His Tuxedo will co-host the Horror Writers Association's Bram Stoker Awards Ceremony for the second year in a row. The Stokers will be held on Saturday, June 13th 2009 as part of the Stoker Banquet Weekend June 12th - 14th, at the Burbank Marriott Hotel in sunny, yet smoggy, California.

Strand is best known as the author of the intense horror thriller novel Pressure (itself nominated for a Bram Stoker Award), the Delirium-ous zombie comedy The Sinister Mr. Corpse, and for dropping Brian Keene's name endlessly in recent blogs.

Reached for a comment, an anonymous source who may or may not be on speaking terms with members of the Strand camp warned, "The Master of Ceremonies gig at the Bram Stoker Awards is Jeff's for as long as he wants it. Anyone who tries to take it away from him will find themselves mysteriously removed from all future census polls."

The details so far:

The 2009 Stoker Banquet will be held at a three-day convention from June 12-14, 2009 at the Burbank Marriott Hotel. The convention is being organized by John Little and Lisa Morton, who are doing their best to make this the very best Stoker Weekend ever.

The HWA has announced their first Guest: John Farris, author of many horror classics including The Fury and almost 40 other books. He's also written many screenplays, include The Fury (directed by Brian DePalma). On top of all that, he's a prior recipient of the HWA's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jeff Strand will be returning as Master of Ceremonies of the Stoker Awards. Jeff was MC this past year and was a huge hit. Registration for the convention is not yet available, but mark your calendars. It'll be here before you know it.

Good luck to Jeff, his tuxedo, John Farris, and all of the future nominees, especially Stephen King, who will no doubt be nominated for his recent novel Duma Key.

Fear Zone will be there to represent!
