As much as I wish it weren't so, there probably isn't a better caption for any merchandise related to SLIME CITY than "YOU CRAZY BASTARD!", the line of dialogue delivered so memorably actress Eva Lee.
And that means the winner of our Creep Street Slime City T-shirt contest is Johnny Cool.
And that means I gotta ship to Germany!
Congratulations, Johnny--I hope you're an XL!

I was doing a google-vanity search for new reviews of my 1988 film SLIME CITY when I discovered that a group called Creep Street was selling a Slime City T-shirt. With my investigative insticts aroused, I checked out the colorful shirt's ad copy and discovered that they were using the old "Tibetan yogurt" as a selling point. I told them it's supposed to be "Himmalayan yogurt," and we hatched a scheme to benefit Fear Zone readers, just in time for the holidays.
We'd like all interested parties to write a caption to go along with the shirt and post it as a comment under this blog. The winner will receive a free Slime City T-shirt courtesy of Creep Street; we'll pick the winning ... (more…)

Yesterday, Nicanor Loreti gave POP Cinema's DVD release of Brett Piper's low budget, 16m horror film DRAINIAC a positive review.
Now we're giving away two free copies of this DVD (we were supposed to give away three, but I... uh... "lost" one--Piper discusses this film in an upcoming book I wrote and I have to see it for myself) courtesy of the friendly folks at Pop Cinema!
How do you win? Easy! All you have to do is guess which monster--and from what movie it appeared in--the creature depicted in this box art reminds ME of! Post your answer as a COMMENT to this announcement. This contest will not self destruct in five seconds; it will remain open until we have two lucky winners. And this ... (more…)

I received this e-mail today from Rotten Tom over at Rotten Jack's Creep Shack, one of the premiere horror shops in this dimension:
Due to the success of last year's Rotten Jack's Creep Show, the powers of creatively creepy commerce at The Shack have determined that another extravaganza is in order for 2008. It will be bigger than the flies on your favorite zombie's back with even more dark, delicious fun than the tasty brains on last year's plate!
This is the big advance notice many of you have hoped for. So yank that new calendar off the wall and mark this down in blood (the fake kind, please).

--of Fear Zone's Johnny Gruesome Death Mask contest:
James McGillvray, the self proclaimed president of the Johnny Gruesome Fan Club. If you can't tell, James is wearing the Matty Mask creation in this photo, taken by his father, Ron, aka "cellar dweller." Mounted on the Canadian wall behind him is a promotional Gruesome poster, and on the floor before him are the Gruesome CD, the Limited Edition hardcover, and the Trading Cards. This kid's got it all!
What does that bumper sticker in his hands say? Only time will tell. But lest you fear that Ye Old Editor's teenage zombie has become Fear Zone's unofficial mascot, rest assured that Johnny has other aspirations!
