Free I CAN SEE YOU and THE VIEWER Screening at NYU
NYU is screening I CAN SEE YOU and THE VIEWER in 3D (summaries below) as part of their Directors Series at the Cantor Film Center, this Friday November 20th, at 6pm sharp. Free!

If you live in or around NYC but missed the films during their theatrical run back in May, now's your chance to see them projected in High Definition!

Don't pass up the opportunity to see a movie that was recently the 41st addition to the awesome list of the 366 Weirdest Movies of All Time; the "tremendous debut" that Salon.com enthusiastically recommends: "See. It. Now."; Fangoria calls it "one of the most intriguing and well-crafted low budget horror films in recent memory," and the NY Times says "heralds a ... (more…)

Adam Steigert: The GORE Guy
During the last few years, I've met a number of young filmmakers who have created feature length motion pictures in an autonomous fashion that would have made John Cassavetes envious. I'm talking about young people - fresh out of college, in college, and even in high school - who have written, produced and directed their own feature length horror films. They don't procrastinate and they don't allow lack of budget to deter them; they complete their films, and, thanks to the Internet, they have a means of distributing them. Most importantly, they learn from their mistakes and evolve as filmmakers.

Adam Steigert, a 22-year-old who lives in Hamburg, New York, outside Buffalo, is preparing for ... (more…)

Bloody Buffalo, New York: the New Indie Horror Capitol of the U.S.A.?
Pictured: Emil J. Novak's DECAYED - double click on image

Since the video boom of the 1980s, several locations throughout the U.S. have seen a concentration of geographical indie horror film production: Baltimore (Don Dohler), Ohio (J.R. Bookwalter), Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Florida, and so on. I'd like to add a new destination to that map: my home city of Buffalo, New York. Anyone who reads Fear Zone knows that I've been detailing the pre-production, production, and now post production of my new production, SLIME CITY MASSACRE. But my flick is really just the tip of the ice berg. A lot of feature length horror films are being made in my struggling city.

Horror is nothing new to this ... (more…)

Movie Zone: CA TUE (aka SILENCE WE ARE SHOOTING)
If you know anything about making movies, then you know it's not all fun and games...it's tons of hard work...just ask our editor-in-chief Greg Lamberson! Well, it's no different, no matter where you go, case in point, the new Belgian movie SILENCE CA TUE (Silence We Are Shooting).

SILENCE CA TUE is the story of a young Belgian filmmaker who's tired of trying to either find an investor for his film or get money from the government to help his production, so he gathers his friends and decides that his best avenue to get a film made is to make a documentary about getting a film made. He begins by gathering his friends and going to a party on the morning before his big meeting with a noted ... (more…)

THE NIGHTMARE COLLECTION
The Nightmare Collection, is nearing completion on a follow-up to its popular Indie horror shorts compilation series which saw Volume 1 hit the market to positive reviews. The DVD is a collection of some of the best horror shorts from around the world. They are introduced by a unique character called, Necro Nancy, played by the talented and beautiful actress/model Krista Grotte. On the DVD the Nancy character is playing out a 'From Beyond the Grave' murderous storyline all her own while introducing the shorts to the viewing audience. This gives the viewers a voyeuristic type experience as seen through the lens of the accompanying cameraman as Nancy dispatches her victims between films. Not ... (more…)

SPLATTER MOVIE: THE DIRECTOR'S CUT Now Available!
Happy Cloud Pictures is pleased to announce that its fourth feature, SPLATTER MOVIE: THE DIRECTOR'S CUT is celebrating its official DVD release. As detailed in Fangoria Magazine, SPLATTER MOVIE is a surreal and off-beat "documentary" about the making of a slasher movie called "Tessaract" (which, in turn, is about a group of filmmakers shooting a movie called "Splatter Movie") whose cast and crew is being stalked by a killer masquerading as the film's fictional killer. Written by Mike Watt and directed by and starring Amy Lynn Best, SPLATTER MOVIE quickly spirals into bizarre territory as the line between film and reality blurs--then disappears entirely!

EXCLUSIVE: Brett Piper and Mark Polonia to Make MUCKMAN--Starring Anju McIntyre!
Indie horror fans were saddened last year when John Polonia, one half of the Polonia Brothers production team, passed away unexpectedly. Together, the twins had been responsible for such low budget titles as SPLATTER FARM, FEEDERS and SPLATTER BEACH (and many, many more; I've posted John's complete credits at the end of this piece). The shows must go on: Mark Polonia and John's lifelong friend Matt Satterly will continue to make films as Cinegraphic Productions, an offshoot of Polonia Bros. Entertainment.

Even more exciting: Brett Piper, the man responsible for BITE ME!, SHOCK-O-RAMA, and BACTERIUM is teaming up with Polonia on a new feature, which Piper will direct. First there was MAN-... (more…)
