THE CRAZIES is exactly the kind of remake I support. George Romero's original film certainly has its moments - see Lynn Lowery (all of her...) - but it is a deeply flawed film, marred by budget, weak performances, and - let's face it - a terrible script and poor direction by Romero himself. Originally titled CODE NAME TRIXIE, this is an amateurish film compared to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, which preceded it, and is primarily worth viewing by Romero fanatics only.
But the trailer for the remake looks damned good. Although THE CRAZIES didn't need to be remade, it sure can be improved, and it looks like it has. Like the original, this is a zombie film in disguise, so it's no surprise the ... (more…)

Is anything more frightening than a good, dark Walt Disney cartoon?
Yes! Those creepy motion-capture films directed by Robert Zemeckis. In POLAR EXPRESS, that guy even made Santa Clause scary.
And now the House of Mouse and the Dean of Mean have teamed up to bring to the screen the umpteenth version of Charles Dickens's A CHRISTMAS CAROL. This new holiday will be prsented in 3D and stars the voices of Jim Carrey, Colin Firth, Gary Oldman, Robin Wright Penn, Michael J. Fox, Cary Elwes, and Bob Hoskins. (more…)

Here' the new trailer for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON.
Okay, I'll bite: it looks pretty interesting to me, I'm actually looking forward to it, and I predict it will do much better at the box office all over the world than the original did.
Looks like TWILIGHT fans will have more to love and haters will grind their fangs. (more…)

"Welcome to HorrorYearbook... for that is where you and I WIL spend the rest of our lives!"
Wil from HorrorYearbook as posted the trailer for PLAN 9, the belated sequel to Ed Wood's PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE. Contrary to popular belief, Wood's flick is not the worst film ever made; it's not even in the top 10, and given the quality of so many micro-budget, Mini-DVD horror flicks out there, I'd be surprised if it's even one of the worst 100 movies.
I actually have a friend who loves P9FOS, not because it's "so bad it's good," but because he simply finds it entertaining. I can't say PLAN 9 is a sequel/remake that needs to be made, and I'm sorry to see that it's just ANOTHER zombie movie (of ... (more…)

Larry Fessenden's Glass Eye Pix brings us the next shocker from filmmaker James Felix McKinney (THE OFF SEASON, AUTOMATONS). Here's the teaser trailer for HYPOTHERMIA.
Those Glass Eye boys really like playing in the snow, don't they? First WENDIGO, then THE LAST WINTER, now this.
Anyway, HYPOTHERMIA appears to be a real creature feature, one that Fear Zone will keep both eyes on! (more…)

New trailers for AVATAR, James Cameron's science fiction epic which will reportedly revolutionize 3-D technology. It looks epic, all right, but those CGI creatures sure look like CGI to me. The film stars Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver (take that, Ridley Scott!), Michelle Rodriguez, CCH Pounder, and Wes Studi. There will be a tidal wave of press and anticipation for this is the months to come.
JENNIFER'S BODY starring Megan Fox and scripted by JUNO's Diablo Cody. This one could be a real sleeper.
And THE WOLFMAN, starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt. This one looks like classy, bloody fun to me, with special make-up effects by none other than Rick (AN AMERICAN ... (more…)
